Wellcome to Celtic Metal, all of my work is created using only traditional blacksmithing techniques and incorporating contemporary design. It is mainly either one-off pieces of sculpture, limited edition design items or uniquely designed and forged commissions.
A lot of the enjoyment for me is creating
something that is well made and crafted, yet interesting and beautiful, which
means time to get it right.

I take on all aspects of forge work from gates and railings to sculpture and everything in-between.Influences are varied. Firstly what captured my interest in forge work was tool making. Being able to make your own tools gives me a unique relationship between you and your work, and influences everything about it. Also it helps me to develop new ideas and skills. Industrial design throughout the last 200 years is a big influence on me, I find the proportion and balance of industrial design very interesting and I use bits of it in a lot of my work. A lot of my ideas are formulated from Antoni Gaudi. It is not hard to be inspired by Gaudi in his designs, nature itself laid down the law.
The Art Deco, Art Nouveau and the arts and crafts movements have always been an inspiration as well. Then of course there is modern culture in general, the influences of which I can't
escape.
I always encourage people to come and see me work and have a cup of tea and a chat. So if you want to see more of my work or
would just like to see what it's all about, why not pop down the
forge and have a chat.
